Report to Ellendale Baptist Church on Changes to the Bylaws

Written by Dr. Jerry Harmon, Posted in EBC Blog

Dear EBC Family,

I wanted to take this opportunity to report to you regarding the prospective changes in the by-laws. I and the Ministerial Council felt that we have not adequately communicated to you the underlying purpose for the proposed changes. As a result, many have been left to speculation as to the reason and motive for this process. Let me first apologize for any lack of clarity. Please allow me to give the reasons for updating our current by-laws.

A Letter from the Pastor

Written by Dr. Jerry Harmon, Posted in EBC Blog

Please pray for Kim Wiggins as she follows God's leading to become Program Director at the Christian Camp, the Grove (formerly known as Camp Cordova).  For some time now Kim has had a desire and vision to do camp ministry in a larger capacity, and God is granting her the desire of her heart.  We all will miss Kim and wish her God's very best as she serves the Lord in this new and exciting ministry.  Kim has been an outstanding servant of God here at Ellendale for 24 years!  As Children's Director she has blessed our youth.  She has also served God's people in many ways behind the scenes that the congregation perhaps did not see, but I have.  Many times she has gone above and beyond the call of duty.  We will be having a special time to honor her for her many years of service on Sunday Night, June 26th, in the Family Life Center right after our service.  Please don't miss this as we send Kim off to her new ministry with our love and blessing.  We have no doubt that she will be a great asset to The Grove.

Blessings,

Bro. Jerry

Who Will Be King?

Written by Rev. David Johnson, Posted in EBC Blog

What does overloaded fanfare, worldwide media coverage, overpriced entertainment and extensive celebrity involvement have in common? Well, it's not the finale of the latest American Idol season, but the royal wedding in London, England.

You may have been aware of this "royal wedding" which took place early this morning. In fact, if you have observed any media lately, you couldn't miss the announcements. The prospective king of England, Prince William was wedded to Kate Middleton. Though I think a lot of hype surrounds the event, I do appreciate the thoughts which this wedding brings to mind.

Everybody wants someone to follow.

Not only are hoardes of people consumed with the celebration of the marriage, but often the next topic of contemplation is that of the future king; as if this wedding now makes William ready for the throne. We may wait many years to find out if that is true, but I find it very interesting that so many around the globe are so consumed with the event. Just a speculation, but it seems to me that there is hope of a better prospect for king than William's father presented. Not merely the right blood and the right training make a fit king. People want a worthy king.
